But after a string of Mr. Wrongs, Zoe commits to her back-up plan: to take on motherhood alone. But just when she discvers she pregnant, she's swept up into a whirlwind romance with Stan, the man of her dreams. Trying to nurture a budding relationship and hide the early signs of pregnancy becomes a comedy of errors for Zoe and creates confusing signals for Stan. Can Zoe hide her pregnancy until Stan is ready for the truth? Or will the truth send him packing?

8/17/10 The Last Song

Teen star Miley Cyrus stars in a coming-of-age love story from bestselling novelist and screenwriter Nicholas Sparks. Steve Miller, an estranged father living in a small Southern beach town gets a chance to spend the summer with Ronnie, his reluctant teenaged daughter, who would rather be home in New York. 8/11/10 Date Night

Steve Carell and Tina Fey star as Phil and Claire Foster, a sensible, loving husband and wife slogging through their daily lives and marriage in suburban New Jersey. But their weekly date night goes dangerously awry when a case of mistaken identity sets off an outrageous chain of events involving small-time thieves, big-city mobsters, corrupt cops and a crazed cabbie. Now, with their lives -- and their marriage -- in serious jeopardy, the Fosters find themselves on a wild and crazy adventure.

7/28/10 Clash of the Titans

Sam Worthington stars in an epic fantasy adventure pitting men against kings and kings against gods. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus is helpless to save his family from Hades, vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus and unleash hell on earth.

7/21/10  The Runaways

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star in the music-fueled coming-of-age story of The Runaways, the groundbreaking 1970s all-girl, teenage rock band that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Friends Joan Jett and Cherie Currie went from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now-legendary group -- Joan is the band's rock n' roll heart, while Cherie is the sex kitten. With its tough-chick image, raw talent, and the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, the group became an outrageous success and a family of misfits.

7/12/10The Bounty Hunter

Love, honor, obey... and stay alive. Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler star in a romantic action comedy as a pair of estranged lovebirds who are continually at odds with each other -- until they find themselves on the run for their lives. Alice in Wonderland Box Art

6/2/10 Alice in Wonderland

Director Tim Burton takes a tumble down the rabbit hole with an imaginative, visually-stunning new twist on one of the most beloved stories of all time. Alice, now 19 years old, returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. In a fantastical world beyond imagination, she embarks on a journey to discover her true destiny and end the Red Queen's reign of terror.

The Karate Kid Box Art

05-12-10 The Re-release of The Karate Kid!!

Well here again is a movie that we've seen before and even grown up with that is being re-released on Blue-ray disc.  This re-release seems to serve a dual purpose; introduce this martial arts coming of age classic to a new audience on a new format (Blue-ray) and prepare audiences for the Jackie Chan remake.  Doesn't this film starring Ralph Macchio and the late Pat Morita stand on it's own?  Why must it be recreated? Come on Hollywood let's see more orginality and less remakes. (BTW I liked the 1989 Batman better then Batman Returns with Christian angrily yells at crew members Bale) Whichever version of the Karate Kid becomes your favorite,

I recommend revisiting the original genuine article. A true classic. Bonzai!!!

Just in time for this summer's Jaden Smith/Jackie Chan remake, a 1980s classic comes to Blu-ray for the first time, with hi-def picture and sound and all-new special features. Ralph Macchio stars as Daniel, the new kid in town who makes fast enemies with the Cobra Kai, a vicious gang of karate school bullies. Pat Morita is Mr. Miyagi, the elderly handyman who becomes Daniel's unexpected friend -- and martial arts master.

05-04-10 An Irish tradition goes right? Maybe...

Amy Adams stars in a romantic comedy about love and fate in the beautiful Irish countryside. When Anna's four-year anniversary to her boyfriend passes without an engagement ring, she takes matters into her own hands. Inspired by an Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on Leap Day, Anna follows Jeremy to Dublin to propose to him.

But after landing on the wrong side of Ireland, she must enlist the help of the handsome and carefree local, Declan, to get her across the country. Along the way, they discover that the road to love can take you to very unexpected places.

04-27-10 The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Wow!  This movie looks to be a very promising and visually vibrant fantasy film. I can't wait to see it. The cast features big names full of talent (Johnny Depp, Christopher Plummer and Collin Farrell to name only a few) and the director (Terry Gilliam) is a Monty Python alum and directed the cult classic Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I don't know why I haven't heard of this film till today. Now it is your DVD pick of the Week. Let me know what you think of it.

-JT

Dr. Parnassus has the extraordinary gift of inspiring the imaginations of others. Helped by his traveling theatre troupe, including his sarcastic and cynical sidekick Percy and versatile young player Anton, Parnassus offers audience members the chance to transcend mundane reality by passing through a magical mirror into a fantastic universe of limitless imagination.

04-13-10 Pirate Radio

And they said.... "Let there be ROCK!"

It doesn't matter when you grew up, when you were a kid your parents hated the music you listened to! Pirate Radio takes the music that inspired a decade (The WHO, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks) and breaks all the rules. Lead by a band free-loving deejay's who rebeled against authority!

It might not be someting to let the kids watch, but it has this week stamp of "DVD Pick of the Week".

04-06-10 Lord of the Rings- Motion Picture Trilogy

Now I know that Lord of the Rings isn't brand new, but this is the first realease of all three films on Blu Ray!

Even if you're not in to all the sci-fi/fantasy stuff you'll still like all three Lord of The Rings (though the second was my favorite).

And now that Lord Of The Rings is on Blu Ray, it puts the visual effects of the movie on a whole new level!

03-30-10 Alvin & The Chipmunks -The Squeakuel

Alvin, Simon & Theodore are back and getting into more mischief than before! This time the chipettes are here to keep the boys on their toes!

Granted, this isn't a movie that you would watch with out the kids, but for some reason kids love the high pitc

Overall, Alvin & The Chipmunks is a great family movie.

03-23-10 The Blind Side

I don't typically admit to shedding a tear, but there were a few times that I got misty eyed watching this movie.

Sandra Bullock puts on one of her best performances and you can see why she took home Best Female Actress this year at the Oscar's.

The Blind Side is a great movie for date night or a family night, hands down one of the best movies of 2009!

03-16-10 Princess and The Frog

When the family went to Disneyland over the holiday's Frontierland was covered with banners and signs about Princess and The Frog . So naturally, the kids had to see this when we got back into town!

It's the classic tale of the Prince doomed by a spell to be a frog unless he can recieve a kiss from a fair maiden. But, this time there's a bit of a twist to the story and the princess finds herself sporting the green digs as well!

Disney never disapoints with having a lesson for the kids to learn and unlike some of the more recent films (Up, Meet the Robinsons, etc) Princess and The Frog  has a lot of great music.

03-09-10 Old Dogs

This week was a tough choice for me, Up In Air & Precious (both which were up for Best Picture) are out this week, including the very kid friendly Planet 51. However, when it came to laughs, star power and an overall enjoyable experience for the whole family Old Dogs (John Travolta, Robin Williams) won my heart.

When two unexpecting business men find themselves in care of  six-year olds twins, they find themselves on a roller-coaster of adventures. Through the chaos they find that there are more important things in life than closing a big business deal.

Our 7 year old couldn't stop laughing and quite frankly either could I (not sure what says about me) but my guess is you'll find yourself laughing too.
